The Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union Social Work Center in collaboration with the District 8 Labor Federation, Ho Chi Minh City organized the giving of savings books to union members in difficult circumstances with incurable or dangerous diseases.

The two union members who were awarded the savings books are Ms. Vo Hong Le Duyen and Ms. Duong Ngoc Giau, who are working at the Union of the Compensation and Site Clearance Board of District 8.

Ms. Vo Hong Le Duyen is being treated for a terminal illness at stage 3 that has metastasized and has undergone surgery. Ms. Duyen is currently recuperating while waiting for radiation therapy. The cost of surgery is too high for her family's financial situation. Ms. Duyen and her family are renting a house. Ms. Le Duyen has 2 children who are in school and elderly parents. Ms. Duyen's husband is a freelancer with a low and unstable income.

Ms. Duong Ngoc Giau has a terminal illness in stage 2, has had surgery, and is currently undergoing radiation therapy. Ms. Giau's husband is a freelancer with an unstable income. Ms. Giau and her husband have a child in 4th grade. The family is in difficult circumstances and is currently renting.

Understanding the difficult circumstances and concerns of union members, the District 8 Labor Federation proposed the Trade Union Social Work Center and the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation to present savings books to Ms. Vo Hong Le Duyen and Ms. Duong Ngoc Giau. Each union member was presented with a savings book worth 10,000,000 VND.

By giving savings books to union members in difficult circumstances and suffering from incurable diseases, the city's trade union expressed its hope that the attention and support of the trade union organization will give more motivation for Ms. Vo Hong Le Duyen and Ms. Duong Ngoc Giau to try to overcome their illness and difficulties. This is truly a great source of encouragement from the trade union organization for individual union members as well as their families. The trade union organization regularly pays attention to and implements cash support for union members in difficult circumstances and suffering from incurable diseases to help union members in a timely manner. The giving of savings books can help and support union members in difficult circumstances and suffering from incurable diseases with an amount that is almost an accumulation. Two different forms and ways of support, but both have noble meanings, affirming the role of the trade union organization in caring for union members. This shows the trade union organization's understanding of the circumstances, aspirations and wishes of union members to choose the most appropriate form of support.
