From a dilapidated house to a dream of settling down
Implementing the policy of the Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation (LĐLĐ) on caring for the lives of union members and workers (ĐV, NLĐ) in difficult housing circumstances, the Tran Yen Commune Trade Union has just organized a ceremony to award Trade Union Warm Houses to union member Sung A Chau - union member of Tan Phu Co., Ltd. Trade Union.
Attached to Tan Phu Co., Ltd. for 13 years, Mr. Sung A Chau is the main breadwinner for the whole family of 4 people. His wife does not have a stable job, and two young children are of school age. With an average income of only about 1.5 million VND/person/month, for many years, the whole family has had to live in a temporary house that has seriously deteriorated.
Every time it rains heavily, my whole family almost doesn't dare to sleep deeply. The roof is leaking, the walls are cracked, I'm just afraid that the house won't stand up to the rain and wind at night," Mr. Chau recalled. The biggest dream of that highland worker is simply to have a house that is sturdy enough for his wife and children to feel secure.
Understanding that situation, trade union levels promptly surveyed, considered and decided to support his family to build a new house. The level 4 house was built with an area of nearly 90m2, solid and spacious structure, fully meeting living needs, helping the family stabilize their lives, feel secure in working, and raising children.
Construction costs are mobilized from many sources: the Provincial Labor Federation supported 50 million VND from the Trade Union Social Fund; 60 million VND contributed by union members and workers of Tan Phu Co., Ltd.; the rest from the joint efforts of family, brothers, relatives and the community. The total cost of building the house is nearly 320 million VND.
On the day of moving into the new house, the kitchen lit up earlier than usual. The two children excitedly hung small lights in front of the porch. For Mr. Chau's family, this year's Tet became more complete than ever.
In emotion, Mr. Chau shared: "My family is extremely grateful for the concern of Trade Union levels, company leaders, union members and local people. Thanks to that help, this Tet, my whole family will celebrate Tet in a new spacious house. This is a great motivation for me to feel secure in my work and strive to rise up in life.
Long-lasting homes in the highlands of Lao Cai
Not only in Tran Yen commune, in recent years, the "Trade Union Shelter" program has spread strongly throughout localities in Lao Cai province, from the highlands of Bac Ha, Van Ban, Muong Khuong to the border areas of Bat Xat, Si Ma Cai...
According to the Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation, in the period 2021-2025, trade union levels have supported the construction and repair of hundreds of Trade Union Solidarity Houses for union members and workers in particularly difficult circumstances, with a total mobilized budget of up to tens of billions of VND from the Trade Union Social Fund, socialized sources and the joint efforts of businesses, union members, and workers.
Many houses were awarded in highland and border communes, where living conditions are still very poor, contributing to helping union members feel secure in living, stabilize their lives for a long time, and be more attached to businesses and trade union organizations.
Mr. Vu Cao Minh - Standing Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation - emphasized: "The "Trade Union Home" program not only helps union members have safe accommodation, but is also a great source of spiritual encouragement for workers to feel secure in working and long-term attachment to businesses and trade union organizations.
From the new houses springing up in the highlands of Lao Cai, the persistent companionship of the Trade Union organization with workers can be clearly seen. The Trade Union Shelter not only shelters from the sun and rain, but also ignites faith, adding motivation for union members to overcome difficulties and rise up in life.
