Dedicated to students in mountainous areas
In 2006, teacher Ha Van Tuan (born 1983) started working in the education sector. In 2014, he applied for a transfer to Pa Long Primary and Secondary School - a particularly difficult area of Thuan Chau district.
In nearly 20 years of working, he has had many outstanding initiatives to improve the quality of teaching and student management. Among them, the most prominent is the initiative "Management and direction solutions to raise awareness of compliance with boarding school regulations for students in secondary schools".
Sharing about the above initiative, Mr. Tuan said: "With this initiative, I want to improve the quality of boarding school management for students as well as improve the learning quality of all students in the school."
The initiative has been put into practice since the 2023-2024 school year and its content has been disseminated to all managers, teachers, staff, and students of Pa Long Primary and Secondary School.
For the teaching staff, the boarding duty time is assigned every day, from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. of the same day, urging students to eat, sleep, study and clean the surrounding environment. At the same time, the school regularly organizes cultural and physical activities and competitions to both improve students' health and help them stay away from the temptations of social evils. Police officers are periodically sent to participate in competitions as well as to propagate laws on traffic safety, marriage and family law, drugs, prostitution, etc.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Principal of Pa Long Primary and Secondary School, after 1 year, the quality of learning has improved significantly as well as had a great impact on society. From raising awareness of compliance with boarding school regulations, there have been great changes in the awareness and actions of students and parents, who are 100% H'Mong ethnic people, but still have some characteristics and customs that are not suitable for today's society.
By the end of March 2024, at Pa Long Primary and Secondary School, there were no more students skipping school at night to go out in the boarding area; the number of students violating child marriage laws had decreased sharply; maintaining the attendance rate at 100% reached 189/189 while maintaining the 2022-2023 school year at 182/188 = 96.8%.
Wholeheartedly for the union
As the Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union, Mr. Tuan and the trade union have coordinated with the school to ensure the regime and welfare for union members and workers, focusing on protecting legitimate rights, building advanced models and promoting emulation movements in accordance with the reality of union members. Timely rewards and encouragement create motivation for union members to strive to improve their professional qualifications and actively participate in cultural and sports activities.
Mr. Lo Viet Dung - Chairman of the Labor Union of Thuan Chau district - shared: "In his role as Vice Principal and Chairman of the Union, comrade Ha Van Tuan, together with the staff and teachers of the school, overcame all difficulties to successfully carry out the task of teaching children of the H'Mong ethnic group in Pa Long commune".
According to the Chairman of the Thuan Chau District Labor Federation, regarding trade union activities, Comrade Tuan is an enthusiastic and responsible trade union officer, always caring, accompanying and sharing with cadres, teachers and union members at the grassroots level; activities launched and implemented by the District Labor Federation are all quickly and effectively implemented by him and his unit.
With his achievements, he was honored by the Son La Provincial Federation of Labor as one of 95 outstanding union officials and members in 2024 with many achievements in emulation movements and union activities.
