Under the chairmanship of Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Ngo Duy Hieu and Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Deputy Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Tran Thi Thanh Ha, delegates at Workshop Center No. 1 discussed the Trade Union representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers.
One issue that delegates at Discussion Center No. 1 are interested in is the care for workers in particularly difficult circumstances and housing. In which, delegate Nguyen Anh Ngoc - Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union of Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd. stated the reality that workers in Hanoi are interested in social housing, rental housing, and cultural institutions. Therefore, according to delegate Nguyen Anh Ngoc's proposal, the Trade Union organization should provide advice on procedures for workers to access and buy social housing and rent housing for rent.
Doing this will also create the strength of the Trade Union" - delegate Nguyen Anh Ngoc said. Along with that, delegate Nguyen Anh Ngoc also shared concerns about supporting workers with critical illnesses.
Contributing opinions to the activities of the Trade Union organization, delegate Pham Tien Dung - Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Chairman of the Vietnam Bank Trade Union said that trade union activities must aim for what workers as well as businesses need. Delegate Pham Tien Dung analyzed: When business profits improve, workers' incomes will be better.
Therefore, when expertise is needed, union members and workers must also work enthusiastically. All bank trade unions take initiatives to improve labor productivity to build emulation movements. Delegate Pham Tien Dung affirmed: In the new era, to protect the interests of workers, trade unions must organize substantive, measurable and countable activities such as training to improve skills so that they grasp knowledge and meet requirements.
Workshop Center No. 1 also exchanged and discussed issues such as occupational safety and health, implementing grassroots democracy... Delegate Hong Quang - Chairman of VCB Trade Union - raised the differences in the implementation of the Trade Union Charter before July 1, 2025, when there were still upper-level grassroots trade unions, compared to the current reality. From there, the delegate proposed that the draft revised Trade Union Charter should be expressed specifically and clearly; and at the same time have detailed guidance, clearly defining the legal position of each type of organization, avoiding confusion between the grassroots level and the upper-level grassroots level. Delegate Nguyen Duc Thang - Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial Labor Federation - proposed to re-establish the Trade Union of Industrial Parks.
