Do not neglect labor safety
Reality shows that the time immediately after Tet often hides many risks. A part of workers has not fully caught up with the pace of work; meanwhile, businesses are under pressure to deliver goods and sign new contracts. If occupational safety and health (OSH) is not properly focused, the risk of serious labor accidents can completely occur.
In order to proactively prevent, at the beginning of 2026, Hue City People's Committee issued a Plan to strengthen labor safety and hygiene assurance in the new situation in the city in 2026. The city sets out many specific targets compared to 2025: reduce at least 4% of serious labor accidents and fatal accidents; increase by at least 5% the number of workers working in hazardous environments to be examined for occupational diseases; increase by 5% the number of establishments with harmful factors to be monitored for the working environment; increase by 10% the number of people working in OSH, occupational safety and hygiene and workers doing work with strict OSH requirements to be trained.
Notably, over 90% of managers and advisors implementing occupational safety and health at the commune level will be trained to improve their capacity; over 80% of people who suffer from work accidents and occupational diseases will fully enjoy compensation and allowances according to legal regulations. These are figures showing the determination not to leave workers behind in the development process.
The highlight in 2026 is the effective organization of the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health with the theme "Innovating management and improving the effectiveness of occupational safety and health in the digital age". Through media peak periods and specific action programs, the city expects to create synchronous and substantial changes in the work of caring for and protecting workers' health and lives.
Trade union - a support for workers
In the context of vibrant production at the beginning of the year, the role of the Trade Union organization is further affirmed. According to the Hue City Labor Federation, before and after Tet, the unit has strengthened supervision and inspection of the production situation at enterprises; grasped the thoughts and aspirations of workers to promptly propose appropriate solutions.
Trade unions at all levels focus on coordinating with employers to review Tet bonus regimes, 13th month salaries, travel and housing support; and at the same time mobilize businesses to have reasonable remuneration policies to retain workers and limit personnel fluctuations after Tet. In addition, dialogue and collective negotiation are promoted, towards building a safe, harmonious, and stable working environment.
Regarding occupational safety and health, the Trade Union strengthens supervision of safety training, labor protection equipment, and inspection of machinery and equipment with strict requirements. The network of safety and hygiene workers at the grassroots level is strengthened, promoting the role of "extended arm" in early detection of unsafe risks, reminding workers to comply with technical procedures.
More importantly, the Trade Union plays a bridge role, protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers when labor accidents and occupational diseases occur; supervising the payment of compensation and allowances in accordance with regulations. Thereby, contributing to consolidating workers' trust in their representative organization.
Entering the new year, along with the spirit of labor and production emulation, ensuring labor safety and hygiene is not only a legal requirement but also a responsibility and commitment of the government, businesses and trade union organizations to workers.
