On July 3, 2024, the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) issued Guidelines for organizing "Union Meals" in 2024 simultaneously at all levels of unions to effectively take care of material and spiritual life, aiming to build long-term welfare programs for union members and workers.
“Union Meal” is an activity organized by the grassroots trade union (member grassroots trade union, departmental trade union, trade union group) in coordination with the heads of agencies, units, and employers; it is an opportunity for union members, employees, trade union organizations, and leaders of agencies, units, and enterprises to share and confide, creating an atmosphere of solidarity, understanding, and attachment between union members and employees and the trade union organization and enterprises.
As a result, up to now, over 15,000 grassroots unions have coordinated to organize "Union Meals" for over 3.1 million union members and workers, with a total amount of over 128 billion VND.
Typically, the Hanoi City Labor Federation has 1,497 grassroots unions organizing "Union Meals" for more than 199,000 union members and workers, with a total budget of over 14.7 billion VND.
Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor has 164 grassroots unions organizing "Union Meals" for more than 298,937 union members and workers, with a total cost of about 12 billion VND.
Bac Ninh Provincial Federation of Labor has 314 grassroots unions organizing "Union Meals" for 137,268 union members and workers, with a total cost of over 8.5 billion VND.
Binh Duong Provincial Federation of Labor has 428 grassroots unions organizing "Union Meals" for more than 187,000 union members and workers, with a total budget of over 6.1 billion VND.
Ha Tinh Provincial Federation of Labor has 645 grassroots unions coordinating to organize "Union Meals" for 31,333 union members and workers, with a total cost of over 3.6 billion VND.
Vietnam Coal and Minerals Trade Union organized a "Union Meal" for 80,591 union members and workers, with a total cost of over 10 billion VND.
