Ms. Kieu Anh shared that there are no places for children to play around the boarding house or company, so her children mostly stay at home and watch entertainment programs on their phones after school. "My wife and I don't have time to take our children to playgrounds in the city because we are busy with work and have to work overtime," said Ms. Kieu Anh.
Talking to Lao Dong, a representative of the grassroots union of a business with more than 1,000 employees in the Japanese Industrial Park - Hai Phong said that businesses in industrial parks all have policies to care for workers' children such as giving gifts for the Children's Day of Children's Day 1.6, Mid-Autumn Festival, giving gifts to children of good workers... However, to take care of spiritual life and organize playgrounds for workers' children, there are not many.
"My company currently has many orders, workers work 12 hours a day, overtime on Saturday and Sunday, so it is very difficult to organize a playground for the children" said the representative of the grassroots union.
According to Ms. Bui Thi Phuong Loan - Vice President of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Trade Union, although the demand of workers is very large, in reality, there are no kindergartens or playgrounds for workers' children in industrial parks.
Caring for the spiritual life of workers' children
According to the representative of the Propaganda and Women's Union of Hai Phong City Labor Federation, 100% of agencies, units, and enterprises with trade unions in the city have organized gift giving activities for children of employees on the occasion of June 1, Mid-Autumn Festival...
Every summer, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation organizes swimming classes and discounts on swimming tickets for workers' children at the Viet Tiep Friendship Labor Cultural Palace swimming pool; organizes programs to give Uncle Ho's gifts to children of union members who are good students... However, activities to care for the spiritual life of union members' children at the grassroots level are still limited, especially in industrial parks and clusters.
In May, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation plans to coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize a Cultural Rendezvous program in industrial parks to improve the cultural and spiritual life of workers, laborers and families. In particular, aiming to perform in diverse forms such as singing, dancing, drama, skits, magics... combined with performances for the children of workers" informed the representative of the Propaganda Department - Women's Union of Hai Phong City Labor Federation.
On the grassroots side, Synztec Vietnam Co., Ltd. maintains a union bookcase, including more than 3,000 books and children's stories serving the children of workers and laborers.
"The bookcase is still updated and supplemented regularly, meeting the needs of workers to borrow for their children to study and entertain, especially during the summer vacation," said Ms. Doan Le Thuong - Chairman of the company's Trade Union.
Along with the cooperation of trade unions and businesses, many socio -political organizations are interested in investing in the playground for children of workers. In particular, in the first quarter of 2025, Hai Phong Doan inaugurated a series of community playgrounds and children's play areas in localities with a large number of workers such as "community playgrounds" in Thuy Duong ward, Thuy Nguyen city with an area of over 300m2 worth VND 150 million; Children's play area in An Duong with a budget of nearly VND 200 million ... Thereby, creating a useful community playground for children in the city in general, children of workers in particular.
