Since the beginning of the 20th century, Cua Ong has become the first coal processing, screening and sealing port in Indochina - one of the first centers for the formation of the working class, Party organizations, and Vietnam Trade Union organizations.
August 20, 1960 marked an important turning point: From a workshop of Cam Pha Mining, Ben Cua Ong Enterprise was established.

On August 12, 1974, Cua Ong Wharf Enterprise was renamed Cua Ong Coal Selection Enterprise with new standards on processing, screening and management.
In 2001, it marked a new milestone, when the Enterprise was upgraded to Cua Ong Coal Selection Company, becoming the main coal selection unit of TKV Group.
During 65 years of construction and development, Cua Ong Coal Selection Company has transported over 300 million tons of raw coal, imported more than 5 million tons of coal, screened and processed over 296 million tons of clean coal to supply the industry, making an important contribution to the country's economic development.

In the past 5 years alone, the company has applied automation, automation, IT, digital transformation to production lines, with more than 3,000 topics, initiatives, and technical improvements applied in practice with a profit value of over 35 billion VND.
The lives and incomes of employees in the Company have truly changed. If in 2015, the average salary of an employee only reached 6.9 million VND/month, then by 2024, the average salary had reached 15.12 million VND/person/month; in the first 6 months of 2025, it reached 14.3 million VND/person/month, equal to 113.5% of the plan.
In the development strategy of Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group "From mineral resources and human resources to get rich", the company identifies improving the quality of human resources as a key task. Every year, organize training and improve the qualifications of workers.
Currently, the company has over 1,200 employees with college, university and postgraduate degrees, accounting for more than 40% of the total number of employees of the Company. To date, the Company has streamlined to 3,000 employees, 12 rooms, 11 workshops and 1 Cultural Sports Center.
Not only is it a large-scale production unit, the Company is also the first unit in the Quang Ninh Mining Area to have an individual awarded the title of "Hero of Labor", and collectively, it was honored twice as "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" and awarded the title of "Hero of Labor in the renovation period" in 2000.
Entering the new journey, the company will focus on three pillars: comprehensive digital transformation; modernizing equipment and lines, investing in green development; improving the lives of workers... At the same time, focusing on training young human resources, building a force of successor technical staff, to maintain long-term stability. All cadres, party members, and employees in the company continue to promote the tradition of "discipline and Unity"

On this occasion, Cua Ong Coal Selection Company was honored to receive a certificate of merit from the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group for its outstanding achievements in the construction and development of TKV; Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Trade Union awarded the Company's Trade Union with the motto: "Solidarity - Innovation - Creativity - Efficiency". Many collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the unit's establishment were also commended and rewarded.
