Notable among the emulation movements launched by the union is the emulation movement "Good workers, Creative workers".
This is a movement with enduring vitality, spreading strongly, especially in the production and business sector, contributing to affirming the leading role of the Trade Union organization in arousing and promoting the spirit of patriotic emulation of union members, workers, civil servants and laborers.
With the goal of " old productivity - quality - efficiency" of the emulation movement "Good workers", "Creative workers" always closely follow the goals, production and business tasks and political tasks in each enterprise, agency, and unit, contributing significantly to helping units overcome difficulties, stabilize and develop, and excellently complete assigned tasks. The movement has become an important driving force to promote productivity, quality and work efficiency. Hundreds of thousands of initiatives, technical improvements, solutions to rationalize production, innovate technology, apply modern science and technology, change new working methods have been implemented, contributing to helping businesses overcome difficulties, maintain growth, improve competitiveness, improve working conditions, limit accidents and occupational diseases.
The most outstanding marks of the "Good workers, Creative workers" movement in the past 5 years are the "75 thousand initiatives, overcoming difficulties, developing" program and the "1 million initiatives - efforts to overcome difficulties, creativity, determination to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic". As a result, the "75 thousand initiatives" Program had 250,177 initiatives participating.
The "1 million initiatives" program has completed the target of 1 million initiatives, 332 days ahead of schedule, with 2,409,104 initiatives submitted to participate in the Program, of which 2,033,669 valid initiatives were approved. The total value of the initiative is estimated at more than VND33,000 billion. Through the movement, the spirit of patriotic emulation, the will to rise up and the intelligence of millions of union members and workers were strongly aroused. Many typical individuals and groups have made important contributions to the socio-economic development achievements in the period of 2020 - 2025, contributing to the successful implementation of the major goals set by the Party, the National Assembly and the Government.
The movement "Good workers, Creative workers" is truly a symbol of the spirit of innovation, the desire to rise up, and is a valuable resource in the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.
Over the past 5 years, 2,792,183 initiatives have been recognized, applications have brought in an estimated value of VND 102,920 billion; the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has awarded 3,815 Creative Labor Certificates to innovative authors.
Success starts from the smallest things
After more than 20 years of working as a miner, Mr. Pham Dinh Duan, a 5/5 worker, Exploitation workshop 14, Vanh Danh - Vinacomin Coal Joint Stock Company (Vietnam Coal - Mineral Trade Union), always believes: "Success begins with the smallest things". From that simple thinking, he has gradually affirmed himself, becoming a typical example in the creative labor emulation movement of coal miners.
For Mr. Duan, emulation is not only a slogan but a motivation for each person to improve themselves: "Working this profession, just one minute of neglect can pay the price with your life. Therefore, awareness of safety must become an instinct in every miner.
Entering the period of industrialization and digital transformation, miners today not only need health but also have intelligence and creativity. Mr. Duan always wondered: "How to make production safer, productivity higher while still reducing labor".
He was determined to self-study, self-train, learn from colleagues and even from the smallest mistakes: "Every time I make mistakes, I learn a new thing. That is the way for the craftsman to truly mature".
From practical production, many of his initiatives and technical improvements have been recognized by the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, bringing in efficiency and profits of hundreds of millions of VND per year.
Sharing at the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress for Workers, Civil Servants, and Laborers, Mr. Lai Hoang Dung - Chairman of the SEV Bac Ninh Trade Union affirmed: "Creativity only truly explodes when workers are inspired, trusted, experienced, recognized, transparent, and promptly rewarded".
According to him, for the patriotic emulation movement to truly spread widely, businesses need to focus on two core factors: Encouraging creativity in each employee and building a comprehensive and sustainable emulation model, focusing on employees.
At Samsung Electronics Vietnam, the spirit of creativity is nurtured through the SMART Movement - with the philosophy of "3 Up: Enhancement - Breakthrough - Reaching Far". This is not only an emulation slogan but a human development strategy, aiming at the model of workers who " dare to think - dare to do - dare to innovate".
Thanks to that, tens of thousands of ideas, whether small or large, have been encouraged, applied and brought practical value: Improving productivity, improving the working environment, optimizing production processes and contributing to strengthening SEV's position in the global value chain of Samsung Group.
From the beginning of 2025 to now, the number of initiatives and ideas at SEV has increased by 250% compared to the same period last year.
As of October 2025, 32,600 initiatives have been put into practice, helping to save hundreds of millions of USD and improve working conditions for tens of thousands of workers.
The creative movement has penetrated deeply into corporate culture, becoming a "mental glue" to connect the team and a motivation for each individual to constantly innovate and improve themselves" - Mr. Lai Hoang Dung said.
Breakthroughs in science and technology development are needed
Speaking at the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress among workers, civil servants and laborers (2025-2030) held on the morning of October 26, Mr. Do Van Chien - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Fatherland Front Party Committee (FPA), Central organizations, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front - acknowledged, warmly commended and respectfully thanked the great contributions of the Trade Union organization, the team of workers, civil servants and laborers nationwide in the patriotic emulation movements in the recent past.
Mr. Do Van Chien said that our country is entering a new era, building a country to develop richly, prosperously, prosperously, civilly, and happily; the entire Party, people, and army are competing to achieve the goal of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, our country becomes a developing country with modern industry, high average income; 100 years of the founding of the country, our country becomes a developed country, high income.
To achieve that goal, Mr. Do Van Chien said that it is necessary to make breakthroughs in developing science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation; synchronously deploy strategic breakthroughs, promote the strength of national solidarity, strongly arouse the awareness, will and aspiration of the Vietnamese people.
I hope and suggest that the Trade Union organization should further promote the patriotic emulation movement among workers, civil servants, and laborers, innovate the thinking, content, and methods of organizing emulation movements, said Mr. Do Van Chien.
With the spirit of "Innovation is the driving force; digital transformation is the method; labor productivity is the measure; improved life and sustainable employment are the goals of patriotic emulation movements among union members and workers" and in the new context, the Trade Union organization operates in the common house of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Mr. Do Van Chien suggested that trade unions at all levels from the Central to local levels and facilities thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the direction of comrades
General Secretary To Lam said: "The new model must have a new mindset, new way of doing things, new efficiency", thereby truly innovating emulation and reward work.
Mr. Do Van Chien hopes that the Trade Union organization will focus on implementing well the 5 key groups of tasks.
Accordingly, trade unions at all levels from the Central to the grassroots level continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement Directive No. 41-CT/TW dated December 26, 2024 of the Politburo on strengthening the Party's leadership in emulation and reward work in the new situation. The head must directly direct and be responsible for the results of emulation movements within the scope of his/her management; link emulation movements with the implementation of political tasks, taking emulation effectiveness as an important criterion to assess the capacity and level of task completion of cadres and party members.
Trade unions must be proactive and take the lead in responding to patriotic emulation movements launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Government and the Central Emulation and Reward Council in accordance with the practical situation of the Trade Union organization, especially movements associated with digital transformation, innovation, human resource development, greening production and improving labor productivity.
Launching emulation must go hand in hand with summarizing, commending, and rewarding organizations and individuals with outstanding achievements.
I hope that the heads of Party committees, organizations, agencies and units must truly set an example, take the lead in organizing emulation movements and truly set an example for cadres, civil servants and workers to follow, said Mr. Do Van Chien.
Trade unions at all levels need to promote propaganda, discovery, and fostering the replication of advanced models. Trade unions at all levels need to improve the quality of reward work. Rewards must be timely, accurate, fair and public; taking the results of political tasks and practical effectiveness as a measure; paying special attention to rewarding workers, people directly involved in production labor, and collectives operating in disadvantaged areas, remote areas, and areas; paying attention to thematic rewards, special rewards, overcoming the situation of formal, closed, and leveling rewards.
Finally, improving the effectiveness of the Emulation and Reward Council at all levels is first of all to consolidate, train and foster the team of cadres working in emulation, rewarding enthusiasm for courage, impartiality, and professionalism; increasing the application of information technology, building a database in emulation and reward work, making emulation and reward work truly a driving force to promote the working class, civil servants, and laborers to strive for creativity, and substantially improve productivity and labor efficiency.
