From the Dai Ninh Pass (Lam Dong) to the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway construction site, the spirit of overcoming difficulties of workers has contributed to creating an enthusiastic and determined atmosphere, demonstrating responsibility for infrastructure projects of national scale. The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 28B through Lam Dong province is about 69km long, with a total investment of about VND1,400 billion.
After the merger of provinces, the demand for travel from the old Binh Thuan to the Lam Dong administrative center (old Da Lat) increased, especially for cadres, civil servants and workers. This is the reason why the project has become a key project, receiving special attention from people and authorities at all levels.
According to the plan, the project will be completed in the first quarter of 2026. To meet this time frame, even during the September 2 holiday, there is no interruption at the construction site. A representative of Project Management Board 5 (under the Vietnam Road Administration - the investor) said that the entire team of workers is still working normally, without holidays, to ensure progress.
At Dai Ninh Pass - the most important and complicated section, construction teams are focusing day and night on straightening the route, expanding the road surface at dangerous curves. Along with handling the roadbed, repairing bridges, casting concrete components, installing culverts and girders. The geological foundation of Dai Ninh Pass is quite complex, so the bored piles must be constructed 20-30m deep to ensure a solid structure for the overpass. The difficulties are even greater when this area often rains in the afternoon, forcing units to make the most of the favorable weather and take advantage of the construction.
Engineer Tran Quoc Hieu - Commander of the construction of overpass No. 3 - said that currently, overpasses No. 2 and 3 under the package have basically completed the foundation and pillar concrete structure. At the construction site, engineers and workers are working overtime, closely following the schedule, urgently constructing the structure of the remaining parts - engineer Hieu shared more.
Construction in "3 shifts, 4 teams" to keep up with the progress of Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway
The urgent working atmosphere is also present at component project 3, Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway. The route is more than 48km long, with a total investment of more than VND6,165 billion, of which the construction package accounts for VND4,216 billion. Currently, there are about 755 personnel and 462 equipment and materials allocated to 41 construction teams. By early September 2025, the authorities had disbursed VND 2,908.38 billion, reaching 68.9% of the contract value, but still nearly 30.41% behind schedule.
Actual records at component project 3 (Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway) show that there are currently about 755 personnel working at the construction site, with 462 equipment and materials allocated to 41 construction teams.
Mr. Tran Cong An (worker at Construction Corporation No. 1 - CC1) said: "We are in charge of the construction of package No. 3 at the project. During the National Day holiday on September 2, all workers did not return to their hometowns to visit their families but stayed at the construction site to continue working.
According to Mr. Dang Tho Dan - Head of the Traffic Project Management Department (Dak Lak Province Traffic Construction Investment and Rural Development Project Management Board): "The volume of work that contractors registered from now until the end of the year is very large. We require contractors to seriously increase human resources and equipment. If they do not meet the requirements, the investor will have a solution. The goal is that by December 31, 2025, all component projects 3 must complete the construction plan and disburse capital on schedule.
The spirit of racing against time is even more evident in package No. 1 constructed by Son Hai Group. Mr. Nguyen Cuong - Executive Director - informed: "We have arranged 170 workers to work continuously according to the "3 shifts, 4 teams" plan throughout the National Day holiday. I myself also stayed at the construction site with my brothers. The unit committed to completing and handing over package No. 1 to the investor by November 30".
That effort continues the series of key traffic projects in Khanh Hoa that have been and are being completed. The Nha Trang - Cam Lam, Cam Lam - Vinh Hao expressway sections will be put into use from 2023-2024. By April 2025, more than 70km of the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway has been exploited, the remaining 13km will be completed from now until the end of the year. Thanks to the smooth expressway system, the travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to Deo Ca tunnel (adjacent to Khanh Hoa - Dak Lak) is shortened to more than 5 hours, much faster than traveling by national highway.
Despite the harsh terrain, erratic weather and pressure to progress, thousands of workers are still stuck at the construction site day and night. The drops of sweat soaked in the sun and wind become a vivid testament to the sense of responsibility and silent sacrifice of workers in the journey to build national infrastructure.
