Faster M4, M4 Pro and M4 Max chips
Obviously, when there’s a new MacBook Pro, there’s a new set of chips to go with it. And that’s true for the upcoming MacBook Pro, too. We’ll see the M4 chip that first appeared in the iPad Pro earlier this year, along with the higher-end M4 Pro and M4 Max chips.
The M4 chip has 10 CPU cores that are about 20-25% faster than the M3.
Larger unified RAM
According to previous reports from Bloomberg, all M4 Mac models will start with at least 16GB of RAM, according to information seen in developer logs.
The base M4 MacBook Pro model will start with 16GB of RAM, which can be upgraded to 32GB. Previously, the M3 models started with 8GB, which could be upgraded to 16GB or 24GB.
3 Thunderbolt ports on all models
According to a leaked packaging and unboxing video, the base M4 MacBook Pro model will have three Thunderbolt ports on all versions. Previously, the base model of the M3 MacBook Pro line had only two Thunderbolt ports, both located on the left side.
Wi-Fi 7 support
Apple is likely to support Wi-Fi 7 on the upcoming M4 MacBook Pro, just like they did with the iPhone 16 series.
Wi-Fi 7 supports speeds of up to 46 Gbps, which is more than five times faster than Wi-Fi 6E's 9 Gbps. Wi-Fi 7 also operates on 320 MHz channels and supports the 6 GHz band, which reduces interference and signal congestion.
Space Black color on all models
According to previous packaging leaks, it's likely that the base MacBook Pro M4 model will come in Space Black, instead of Space Gray like the current model.
