Overfloating underground bridge in Thai Nguyen swept away by flood

Việt Bắc |

Thai Nguyen - An underground bridge overflows in Binh Son commune (Song Cong city) on the Cong river and is swept away by floodwaters.

On the morning of June 22, informing reporters, Ms. Chu Thi Man, Vice Chairman of Binh Xuyen Commune People's Committee confirmed that due to the impact of heavy rain, floods on the Cong River rose high and flowed rapidly, causing part of the underground bridge over Trai Ngua to be swept away.

"The location of the overflow underpass is on the Ba Xuyen commune side, there were no human casualties but it also caused local traffic disruption between the two communes," said Ms. Man.

At the scene, part of the Trai Ngua spillway underground bridge nearly 30m long was completely washed away. Floodwater on the Cong River flows rapidly and overflows the bridge surface.

Currently, the authorities of Binh Son and Ba Xuyen communes have organized forces to block off the two ends of the Trai Ngua overflow underpass, put up warning signs, and ensure the safety of the people.

Heavy rain on June 20 and 21 in Thai Nguyen province caused localized flooding in many places. Initially, the authorities determined that there were damage to livestock, agricultural production and infrastructure.

Thai Nguyen province has mobilized more than 1,900 officers and soldiers of the military, police, militia and self-defense forces along with 12 motorboats and 16 specialized cars to support people in evacuating from flooded areas, organizing checkpoints and warnings at isolated traffic routes, diverting traffic flows to ensure traffic safety and implementing dyke protection and flood prevention plans.
