This feature creates a bright border around the edge of the Mac screen, improving lighting and helping users look more clearly in the frame.
Edge Light helps eliminate the need to use separate lighting devices. This technology can add light in dark environments and self-adjust the brightness to suit the surrounding light.
MacOS can recognize faces, relative sizes, and locations in the frame to set optimal lighting. When users move the chuot to perform the operation, the bright border will gradually fade to avoid affecting the content viewing on the screen. The light color can also be customized through the slide between warm tones and cold tones.
Edge Light is placed with a group of video effects such as wallpaper, Portrait mode, Studio Light or noise filter. The feature works on Macs using Apple silicon chips, compatible with both built-in website and external cameras. For Mac models from 2024 onwards, Edge Light can turn on on on on its own when the light in the room is low.
Developers can experience Edge Light today. MacOS Tahoe 26.2 is expected to be released to the public in December.
