Apple blocks downgrades from iOS 18.3 to iOS 18.2.1

After a week of releasing iOS 18.3 to users, Apple has officially blocked downgrading from iOS 18.3 to iOS 18.2.1.

This means that those who have updated to a newer version will not be able to go back to iOS 18.2.1 on their iPhone or iPad.

iOS 18.2.1 was released on January 6 with the aim of fixing some important bugs. However, Apple did not provide specific details about these bugs.

Meanwhile, iOS 18.3, released on January 27, brings several improvements to Apple Intelligence features along with many important security patches.

iOS 18.3 addresses a security vulnerability in AirPlay that could be exploited by hackers to cause “unexpected system shutdown or processor memory corruption” via the local network.

Therefore, users are recommended to update to the latest iOS version to ensure their devices are always protected against cybersecurity threats.

However, for those who have upgraded to iOS 18.3, going back to iOS 18.2.1 is no longer possible.

Apple's downgrade block is a measure to prevent the use of old iOS versions with poor security risks, and at the same time, limit the ability to jailbreak the device (a trick that deeply intervenes in the system to break the barriers of iPhone, iPad).
