According to analyst Mark Gurman, Apple is currently planning to introduce the first smart glasses at the WWDC 2027 event in June next year, in which privacy will be one of the important highlights.
Sources said Apple is testing a series of new hardware and software features to enhance privacy protection for devices.
Although not yet revealing details, Gurman believes Apple will strongly promote these security measures to create differentiation from competitors such as Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses.
In the context that many people are concerned about the risk of being secretly filmed with glasses with cameras, Apple once considered developing a glass version that only uses cameras to support AI features but does not allow taking photos or recording videos. The company even tested a prototype without integrated cameras.
However, it is highly likely that the commercial version will still be equipped with a camera, accompanied by privacy protection mechanisms according to standards that are Apple's strength.
Similar to Meta Ray-Ban, Apple's smart glasses are said to integrate speakers and microphones, support music listening, making calls, receiving notifications and interacting with Siri.
According to the current plan, Apple will start selling smart glasses by the end of 2027.
