According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple has no plans to launch a new version of Vision Pro in 2025. Currently, all information shows that the next generation Vision Pro will not be introduced until 2026.
On the other hand, Gurman revealed that Apple’s more “pressing” goal is to develop a low-cost version of mixed reality (MR) glasses, which Apple is currently pushing ahead with research and development on.
Previously, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the Vision Pro 2 would go into production in the second half of 2025. The product is expected to use the M5 chip and support Apple Intelligence smart features, although there are not many details about other hardware changes.
The above information shows that Apple is reorienting its strategy for developing mixed reality (MR) products. Although Vision Pro is a pioneering product that marks a big step forward for Apple in this field, focusing on developing a low-cost version shows that Apple wants to expand its customer base and create a wider market.
Given the Vision Pro's current price point, the device is primarily aimed at developers, businesses, or high-end tech enthusiasts, rather than the average user.
In addition to Vision Pro, Apple’s testing of other products such as Ray-Ban-style smart glasses or AirPods with built-in cameras also reflects its ambition to go beyond mixed reality and expand to multi-purpose smart wearables. These could be products that promise to revolutionize the way people interact with technology.
Although there is no specific time, these products are expected to shape Apple's future in the new era.
