According to the Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho City, in the face of increasing demand for connection and use of digital services, the department has advised the City People's Committee to deploy a public Wi-Fi system in areas with high concentration of people and tourists, contributing to building a digital space serving the community.


To date, the system has completed and put into operation 27 public Wi-Fi hotspots, including: 15 hotspots at Ben Ninh Kieu, 6 hotspots at Luu Huu Phuoc Park, 2 hotspots at Song Hau Park and 4 hotspots at Cai Rang Floating Market.
Each broadcasting point has the ability to support at least 256 devices for simultaneous access, with a minimum coverage of 350 m in standard conditions. The deployment of the system aims to serve the needs of information lookup, using online public services, cashless payments, smart tourism applications and many other digital utilities of people and tourists.

Mr. Ngo Anh Tin - Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Can Tho City said that with 27 points deployed in a very short time to serve the 2026 digital transformation plan of the City People's Committee, after reassessing the needs, the department will advise the City People's Committee to deploy more points.
For 2027, in industrial parks, the science and technology sector has conducted surveys and this will be a process of continuing to develop and expand the system.
After deploying the 5G network, the science and technology sector will advise the City People's Committee to connect to the city's system to provide information about the socio-economic results of the locality; at the same time, multilingual deployment. Currently, the system only has Vietnamese, in the future, English and other languages will be deployed to serve international tourists.
In addition, more identification boards will be installed so that people can access more information. When the systems are completed and put into operation, people will be provided with more information about events, weather... These are new tasks that will be implemented in the 2027 digital transformation program.


Ms. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, a resident of Can Tho City, shared that having free Wi-Fi is very convenient, especially when traveling with family or welcoming friends and tourists.
With free Wi-Fi, I can easily look up information, find directions, see entertainment venues and surrounding services without worrying about running out of network capacity. Such utilities help people and tourists to be more convenient when playing and experiencing in the city," Ms. Thanh Thuy said happily.
Mr. Minh Trung (Cai Khe ward, Can Tho city) said that the deployment of free Wi-Fi in public areas brings many conveniences to people and tourists. According to him, when there is internet connection, people can easily look up information, find sightseeing spots, eat, use online services as well as share images during entertainment and experience.
This is a practical utility, suitable for the smart city development and digital transformation of the city," said Mr. Minh Trung.
