Digital transformation imprint of Hue Ancient Capital
The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre has just won the Vietnam Digital Transformation Award 2024 for its application of digital technology to preserve and promote the values of Hue's heritage and culture.
Over the past few years, the center has applied digital technology to preserve and promote heritage values with 4 main groups of solutions, including: Digitizing important relics; Developing infrastructure and technology to serve tourists; Improving technology infrastructure and Developing smart tourism services and digital libraries...
The unit has digitized more than 25,000 pages of Han Nom documents, 172 files (relic files, archaeological files, heritage files...), 250 royal decree photos, 295 poetry photos on Hue royal architecture...
Regarding the Nguyen Dynasty's precious antiques and artifacts, up to now, there have been 207 precious antiques, including 33 artifacts/sets of artifacts that are national treasures that have been scanned and 3D digitized.
With those right directions, the center has attracted more tourists, increasing revenue.
Statistics show that in 2023, the center welcomed 2.28 million visitors, including more than 1 million international visitors. The unit's total revenue was more than 350 billion VND; an increase of 151 billion VND compared to 2022; reaching 140% of the assigned plan.
Enhance the visitor experience
In mid-2024, the center announced the Digital Identity with 10 Nguyen Dynasty artifacts, and launched the first metaverse cultural exhibition space integrating Apple Vision Pro through cooperation and technology application of Phygital Labs, opening a journey of applying technology to preserve and promote cultural heritage values, leading the wave of XR extended reality technology.
“The cooperation with Phygital Labs has made an important contribution to enhancing the experience for tourists and promoting the value of cultural heritage. Although the cooperation has not yet charged service fees for digital technology products, the solutions that Phygital Labs has brought have created a strong influence,” said Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, Hue Monuments Conservation Center.
Mr. Trung cited the digital exhibition of antiques on the museehue.vn platform, which attracted about 15,000 views in the pilot phase with the first 10 antiques.
In the coming time, the center will continue to coordinate with partners to launch and apply new technology to 2 projects, including: Multi-interactive experiential tourism and Derivative souvenirs certified from antiques.
With the first project, the center piloted Hai Van Quan gate and recorded nearly 3,000 check-ins after only 3 weeks of piloting, showing great interest from tourists.
Meanwhile, the derivative souvenir project is expected to launch on November 23 on the occasion of the opening of Thai Hoa Palace.
This is a new approach, helping to realize cultural values in modern life, bringing products with high souvenir value, while connecting consumers with heritage culture in a close and sustainable way.
In the coming time, the center will continue to carry out digitalization projects, creating a 3D database of Hue ancient capital relics, such as: Can Chanh Palace, The To Temple, Hung Temple, Duyet Thi Duong, Quoc Tu Giam relic, Khai Tuong Lau - An Dinh Palace, the tombs of the kings: Gia Long, Khai Dinh, Minh Mang, Tu Duc...
