On December 3, the Ministry of Science and Technology in coordination with the People's Committee of Dien Bien province organized a workshop to promote trade, investment, and digital technology products "Make in Vietnam" to promote the development of the digital economy and digital transformation for businesses in the Northwest region.
The workshop was attended by Mr. Bui Hoang Phuong - Deputy Minister of Science and Technology; Mr. Tran Tien Dung - Secretary of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee, and representatives of the leaders of Dien Bien province and some northern provinces.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Minh Phu - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien said that the province has great advantages in terms of land and climate with many raw material areas of tens of thousands of hectares such as macadamia, coffee, rubber and 138 typical OCOP products.
In particular, Dien Bien tourism is on the rise with about 1.45 million visitors in 2025. However, to maintain growth momentum and make a difference, the province needs a strong breakthrough in technology.

Only when digital technology is put into practice in social life, becoming an effective support tool for people and businesses, will digital transformation truly promote value and create strong and sustainable change Mr. Phu emphasized.
According to Mr. Phu, this is also an opportunity to connect technology supply and demand, promote cooperation between state management agencies, research institutes and the business community.
Assessing the potential of the region, Mr. Bui Hoang Phuong - Deputy Minister of Science and Technology said that if digital transformation is well utilized, the development of the digital economy is promoted, and science, technology, and innovation are strongly applied, it is a "golden opportunity" for Dien Bien and the Northwest to break through, shortening the development gap.

According to the Deputy Minister, the application of digital technology will help the key strengths such as agriculture and tourism of Dien Bien develop.
The Deputy Minister of Science and Technology said that other sectors and fields of the province, from state management agencies to businesses and people, must be equipped with digital skills and technological knowledge. When implementing comprehensive digital transformation, Dien Bien will effectively implement its advantage to break through and rise up.
At the workshop, delegates witnessed the "Certificate Award Ceremony and Signing of Cooperation Agreement for Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation Development" with many important contents, creating a premise for the development of Dien Bien and the Northwestern provinces.
