Discord has just added a series of new features to the Family Center, making it easy for parents to track how their children use the application. They can see the total amount of time a child uses Discord per week, the list of people and servers with the most interaction, as well as the total amount spent on services such as Nitro packages or products on the Discord Store.
The platform also updated its separate Parents' control settings, allowing parents to decide who can text directly, whether sensitive content is filtered, and whether Discord is allowed to display personalized ads to their children's accounts.
When younger users report the violating content, they can choose to send a notification to their parents or guardians - however, Discord will not disclose the details of that content.
According to the company, these changes aim to help parents participate more actively in protecting their children when using social media, while still respecting the privacy of adolescents. At the same time, many other platforms such as Meta, YouTube or OpenAI are also strengthening measures to protect young users.
