At the event, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung assessed that CMC OpenAI Company's (C- OpenAI) business model is suitable for the era of knowledge-based development. "People with money contribute money, people with knowledge contribute knowledge. Knowledge is equivalent to capital. Enterprises need to harmoniously combine capital and knowledge, material assets and intellectual assets, said the Minister.
According to the Minister, a developed country is a country where 80% of its assets are intellectual property, while a less developed country relies mainly on tangible assets. Vietnam has entered a new stage of development, and it is necessary to promote science and technology enterprises according to this model.
Referring to the aspiration of C- OpenAI, the Minister said: A business that started with 50 million USD but set a target of achieving a value of 5 billion USD in 5-10 years is a great aspiration. No big business has ever started a business without big dreams. Aspiration is like a guiding star, helping businesses to be steadfast and not lost".
The Minister also pointed out the characteristics of the 4th Industrial Revolution as the balance between "big tech" possessing core technology and local businesses grasping data, context and culture. The advantage of C- OpenAI is Vietnamese data, open source AI and especially Vietnamese human intelligence.
He affirmed that AI will be the most important technology of the era, bringing the same global productivity increase as electricity in the 20th century. This is also an opportunity for Vietnam to take advantage of the fourth opportunity of industrialization, making the country a developed country with high income in the next 20 years.
Another highlight in the speech was the orientation for open technology development. According to the Minister, no technology corporation can solve all global problems. Open technology, open source code and open data will unleash creativity among all people, helping many participants solve socio-economic problems. IT must be as cheap as air and the only way to do it is open technology, he stressed.
The Minister also mentioned trust and cybersecurity. He said that only when technology is open, can countries master key infrastructure such as 5G, AI. Open technology also creates a foundation for people-to-people creativity, turning data into new value, thereby helping Vietnam both inherit and contribute to human knowledge.
Vietnam is committed to developing and mastering digital technology based on open standards and open source codes. This is not only a strategy but also our action program, the Minister affirmed. He called on state agencies to build policies, businesses to develop platforms and training facilities to nurture open communities.
