Crowds of people line up to wait for subscriber information verification in Ho Chi Minh City

NGUYỄN ĐĂNG |

Many people in Ho Chi Minh City have come to telecommunications stores to complete the verification of subscriber information.

From April 15, 2026, Circular 08/2026/TT-BKHCN on verifying registration information and using mobile subscriber numbers officially takes effect nationwide.

According to regulations, mobile subscriber numbers need to be cross-checked and fully verified with 4 information fields including: Personal identification number, full name, date of birth and biometric facial image data, ensuring they match the National Population Database or ID database.

Currently, three major network operators in Vietnam, including Viettel, VinaPhone and MobiFone, have all provided remote subscriber authentication features through the My Viettel, My VNPT and My MobiFone applications. People need to prepare a citizen ID card, log in to the network operator application that the subscriber is using and carry out authentication according to instructions.

Recorded in Ho Chi Minh City, on April 15, the number of customers directly coming to network operator stores to verify subscribers all increased sharply. Many people had to come early to be consulted and supported by staff.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, a store manager of MobiFone network in Ho Chi Minh City said that from morning until after 5 pm on April 15, employees have supported more than 600 customers to verify subscriber information. To serve customers best, the network's stores will work from 7:30 am to 8 pm daily.

According to sharing from support staff from network operators, each customer coming to verify subscriber information will take 2-20 minutes. “Each customer takes about 2 minutes to complete verification with updating from ID card to CCCD. But there are also other cases that will take longer.

There are cases where customers transfer multiple SIMs from one person to another, some customers update information for 3 SIMs at once. Besides, there are also cases where customers use old phones, access the application is slow, so it takes time. There are also customers who do not have smartphones, so the support time will be longer," an employee of a network operator shared with Lao Dong.

In addition to verifying subscriber information directly at network operator stores, people in Ho Chi Minh City can also do this at other locations. With network operator Viettel, they also cooperate with authorized retail chains such as The Gioi Di Dong, FPT Shop, CellphoneS... to expand more points of receipt and customer support, helping people easily access services at the nearest place.

With VinaPhone network operator, customers can perform biometric authentication directly on the MyVNPT application or go to VinaPhone transaction points nationwide to receive direct support with a chip-based citizen identification card.

VinaPhone customers who are abroad can verify subscriber information remotely through the MyVNPT application combined with a Chip-based citizen identification card, thereby completing procedures quickly, safely, conveniently without having to return home, and always maintaining smooth connection wherever they are.

Especially for the elderly, people who do not use smartphones, people in remote areas, border areas, islands or groups in need of special support, VinaPhone coordinates with the commune-level police force to organize direct verification support at the place of residence.
