On August 18, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province announced that from August 2025, Phu Cat Airport and Pleiku Airport will officially deploy biometric solutions to identify faces in the process of completing boarding procedures. This is considered an important step towards the goal of "smart airport - convenient passengers - absolute security".
With this technology, passengers only need to scan their face for a few seconds to have the system authenticate information with the National Population Database and VNeID electronic identification account. Thanks to that, passengers do not need to carry many types of documents and procedures more quickly and accurately.

Biometric solutions also help increase safety and security, almost eliminating the possibility of using fake documents, preventing potential risks, helping passengers feel more secure in each flight.
To do this, passengers must check-in online on the VNeID application by registering for level 2 electronic identification, entering flight information and facial authentication via phone. When authentication is successful, passengers arriving at the airport only need to go straight through the biometric control gate, without having to queue at the check-in counter.
In case the check-in has not been done on VNeID, passengers can still authenticate directly at the counter or biometric kiosk at the airport. Just present your citizen identification card for the support staff to authenticate, then passengers can go straight to the security check area and board the plane, without having to bring a passport or card to board the plane.
According to the People's Committee of Gia Lai province, the implementation of biometrics in the aviation process at Gia Lai's two airports is both a practical service for the people and one of the key tasks to implement Project 06 of the Government. This is also a driving force to promote the digital transformation process, improve the effectiveness of administrative reform, and create a favorable environment for people and businesses in the province.
