It is known that the world's leading multinational technology company - Google has not yet disclosed detailed information about the data centers, but according to the plan, it will spend 1 billion USD on data center and cloud infrastructure in Thailand from 2025 to 2029, and build factories in Bangkok and Chonburi. This will help create 14,000 jobs and 4 billion USD to Thailand's GDP.
The Internet search giant said the new project will help meet the growing demand for Google Cloud, while also innovating AI and the company’s digital services such as search, maps, workspaces, etc.
Accordingly, Google's data center will be located in an industrial park in Chonburi, while Google Cloud Region - including specialized hardware and software to provide services to the public and private sectors - is located in the capital Bangkok.
Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra said Thailand is fast becoming the digital hub of Southeast Asia thanks to its skilled workforce and investment in technology infrastructure from companies like Google.
In addition, Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra also assessed that Google's investment in data centers and clouds in Chonburi and Bangkok is very consistent with Thailand's Cloud First policy.
First, Google will partner with Gulf Edge to provide sovereign cloud here.
In Asia, Google has Google Cloud regions in the following countries: Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong (China), Taiwan (China), Korea, and Japan.
Amazon Web Services – a strong competitor in this market of Google, is also planning to open a cloud region in Thailand in early 2025 and invest 5 billion USD by 2037.
