The first feature is the sidebar. For all Gemini users on Chrome, this interface allows chatting with Gemini and maintaining conversations throughout multiple browser tabs.
According to Google, the sidebar is especially useful for regular multitaskers. Test teams have used it to compare information between multiple open cards, summarize product reviews from different websites, or support scheduling in busy work schedules.
The sidebar is also where the second new feature is integrated: Nano Banana, Google's internal image creation tool. After being successfully deployed in the Gemini application, Nano Banana is now directly included in Chrome.
Thanks to that, users do not need to open new cards when they want to create photos with AI, nor do they have to download and upload files again when editing existing images. All can be done directly from any card currently open through the new sidebar.
The continuous addition of Gemini tools shows that Google is promoting a strategy to turn Chrome into a true "smart" browser, where AI not only supports search but also deeply interferes with users' daily work processes. When personalized features are completed in the near future, Chrome is likely to play a more central role in the Google ecosystem.
