Google has just announced plans to deploy Gemini artificial intelligence assistants on car lines with built-in Google Assistants, marking a significant upgrade in the smart driving experience.
This move shows the company's ambition to bring advanced voice AI into the mobile environment, where convenience and safety are put first.
The information came shortly after General Motors revealed it would integrate Gemini on about 4 million vehicles from the 2022 model year and beyond, including brands such as Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick and GMC.
However, Google does not limit the scope of deployment to GM alone, showing its ambition to popularize this technology to many other car manufacturers in the future.
According to the plan, Gemini will be deployed first in the US with English support, then expanded to other regions and languages in the coming months.
Notably, this technology not only appears on new car models but can also be updated for compatible cars through software, helping to quickly expand the user scale.
Google-integrated car lines were first launched in 2020, but with Gemini, the interactive experience has been elevated to a new level. Instead of rigid commands, drivers can communicate more naturally with the car, almost like chatting with a real assistant.
For example, drivers can request to find a luxury restaurant with outdoor seating on the route. Gemini will use data from Google Maps to suggest suitable locations, while processing subsequent questions such as parking space status or menu selection, even if users have special dining requests.
Not stopping at searching, Gemini also supports many other tasks such as turning on the heating system, navigation, music suggestions, car information retrieval, message summaries and support for hands-free answering. These features help drivers limit direct operations, thereby increasing driving safety.
Notably, Google also introduced Gemini Live, a feature that is in the beta testing phase, allowing real-time conversations to open.
Users can activate it with the command "Hey Google, let's talk" or operate directly on the car interface, thereby chatting, learning or discussing while moving.
To use it, drivers only need to log in to their Google account on compatible media and upgrade when suggested by the system.
After activation, Gemini can access via voice commands, microphones on the screen or control buttons on the steering wheel.
In the future, Google said it will continue to expand Gemini's capabilities by deeper integration with services such as Gmail, Google Calendar or Google Home.
This promises to turn the car not only into a means of transportation but also into an intelligent connection center, synchronized with the digital ecosystem of users.
The appearance of Gemini in cars is considered an important step in bringing AI into daily life, while opening up a new competition in the smart car technology industry.
