According to Chinese media, Huawei is accelerating the implementation of the file transfer feature from the HarmonyOS 6 operating system to Android and everything is going smoothly.
Huawei also said that new HarmonyOS updates will be released monthly to optimize the product experience. With the new updates, Huawei hopes to ensure the Android file transfer feature works smoothly when launched. Although it has confirmed that the development is underway, Huawei has not yet confirmed the official launch date of this feature.
At a recent event, Huawei launched the HarmonyOS 6 operating system, the latest release of source software that supports live file transfer between Huawei and Apple devices. This new feature is compatible with Apple's AirDrop, allowing photo and document transmission over a short distance via an Internet connection.
HarmonyOS supports more than 90 Huawei devices, including the latest flagship phones in the Pura and Mate lines. The first beta has been released for the first phase of eligible devices, and many other devices will soon be upgraded.
The Chinese technology giant launched HarmonyOS in 2019 and launched it on mobile devices the following year. Since then, Huawei developers have made major changes to the user experience and developer programs to improve the application ecosystem. One of those changes is moving to the native mobile experience.
This means that Huawei's exclusive version of HarmonyOS is a native operating system, without an Android library. This allows Huawei phone users to have better performance and user experience after each operating system update.
Huawei is seeking to challenge Android's dominance in the Chinese smartphone operating market. The operating system developed by Huawei is currently in third place with more than 17% market share, while iOS is second, according to data shared by Counter Point Research.
