Understanding the CVE-2025-6558 security vulnerability
Recently, Apple has officially released a series of software updates to fix serious security vulnerabilities that can cause users to be attacked from a distance. The updated versions include iOS 18.6, iPadOS 18.6, macOS Sequoia 15.6, tvOS 18.6, watchOS 11.6, and visionOS 2.6.
The serious security vulnerability code CVE-2025-6558 has been patched in this update. According to Bleeping Computer, this error allows attackers to execute arbitrary code through a malicious HTML page, which can bypass the browser's protection mechanisms.
The vulnerability directly affects popular browsers such as Chrome and is classified as a zero-day error (ie an error that has not been patched before).
The CVE-2025-6558 error was first discovered by Google's "threat Analysis" team in June. Google Chrome quickly released a patch in July.
Now, Apple has also taken action to protect its users by releasing corresponding updates.
Users of iPhones, iPads, and other Apple devices are advised to update their software as soon as possible to avoid cyber attacks. According to Apple, security issues are often not made public until an official patch is available to reduce the risk of vulnerability exploitation.

Update instructions
How to update on iPhone or iPad:
- Open the Settings application
- Select General settings
- click on Software Update
- Waiting for the device to check the new update
- If you see iOS 18.6 or iPadOS 18.6, click download and Install
- Enter the password if required and follow the instructions on the screen
Note: Make sure the battery is over 50% or connect to the charger when updated.
How to update on Mac (macOS Sequoia 15.6):
- Open System Settings
- Select General (Common settings) > Software Update
- If you have macOS Sequoia 15.6, select Update Now
How to update on Apple Watch (watchOS 11.6):
- Open the Watch app on iPhone
- Go to General (Common settings) > Software Update
- Press download and Set
How to update on Apple TV (tvOS 18.6):
- Open Settings
- Select System > Software Updates
- click Up date Software if available
