Instagram has just introduced Restyle, a new photo and video editing tool integrated with Meta AI, allowing users to change content in Stories using natural language reminders.
This is considered a big step forward for Meta's social networking platform in applying artificial intelligence to content creation.
According to Instagram's announcement, Restyle makes it easy for users to remove unwanted details, add fun elements or change the atmosphere with a unique effect with just a short description.
This feature has a similar mechanism to the Help Me Edit tool on Google Photos, but is integrated directly into the Stories interface, where users interact most frequently.
Instagram has previously tested AI photo editing tools through Meta AI chatbot. However, expanding AI directly to the Stories feature is considered a strategic step, making it easier for users to access this creative tool without leaving the application.
Restyle is also quite simple:
Users just need to open the Instagram application, select the "+" icon to create a new Story, then select the photo or video they want to edit.
Next, tap the palm paint icon to access the Restyle tool. Here, you can enter a natural language editing request, such as delete the person behind, add a brilliant sunset or turn the landscape into cartoon.
Meta AI will then automatically perform and display the results right in the editing interface.
For videos, Meta AI now supports preset effects that help users change style or lighting, instead of editing every detail like with a photo.
With Restyle, Instagram hopes to expand users' creativity, making content editing faster, more natural and personalized.
This is also part of Meta's strategy to bring artificial intelligence deeper into social media products, towards an era of AI innovation.
