Apple has just released the first beta of iOS 18.4, bringing many new features related to Apple Intelligence. Notably, this update also adds an interesting change for CarPlay users.
According to MacRumors, Apple has added a third store of apps to the CarPlay interface, helping to optimize the user experience.
Currently, this feature seems to only appear on cars with large central screens. A MacRumors forum member said that his Toyota Tundra with a 14-inch screen has displayed a third application line, while the Honda Civic with a 9-inch screen still has only two lines as before.
This suggests that Apple may be setting up a third-andship app default for cars with a larger screen of more than 10 inches. Although this is just a small change, it is of great significance in reducing the operation of surfing many application pages when driving.
Displaying up to 15 apps at a time will make it easier for drivers to access the necessary features without being distracted.
While users are still waiting for the next generation of CarPlay, Apple continues to improve the current version. Previously, iOS 18 also brought a number of new features to CarPlay, including:
Read notification: CarPlay can read summary notification via AirPods or loudspeaker, helping drivers not have to look at the screen.
Space audio: Support music playback with arched audio from Apple Music and third-party apps. Cars with a multi-channel sound system can take advantage of the Dolby Atmos feature to enhance the experience.
Enhanced access: Options such as color filter, bold printing text, voice control, and audio recognition have been integrated into CarPlay, providing a consistent experience between iPhone and vehicle.
CarPlay is a system that connects and integrates the iPhone and the car entertainment screen developed by Apple. It allows users to access iPhone applications and features right on the vehicle's screen, making control safer and more convenient when driving.
