According to the MacRumors forum, the beta version of iOS 27 source code shows that Apple is testing at least 5 new features for the Camera. Some features may appear on the iPhone 18 Pro or be added in later iOS updates.
Exposure measurement
The camera can be supplemented with charts or waveforms for users to evaluate the exposure level of the photo. This tool helps to recognize areas that are too dark, too bright or have appropriate brightness before shooting.
Bright area warning and focusing support
The camera can highlight the edges of the focusing subject. Another coating will warn areas that are overexposed with different display effects.
Time-lapse continuous shooting
Instead of just taking one photo after the timer ends, the Camera can automatically restart the meter to take multiple consecutive photos.
Manual autofocus
Apple seems to be testing the ability to manually set up and lock autofocus, similar to some features on the Final Cut Camera application. However, this feature is currently not working on the iPhone models being sold.
Adjust photos by aperture
Most notably, the source code shows that iOS 27 can adjust the lens adjustment process based on the aperture settings. This is consistent with rumors that the iPhone 18 Pro may be equipped with a main camera with a variable aperture.
Currently, all 5 features have not appeared for users to use in beta versions. Apple may also change or postpone the release date.
