Xbox is showing a strong transformation from the initial bulky gaming machines to new, more modern forms. The company has recently joined hands with Asus to launch the ROG Ally handheld device, and now, Xbox may soon enter the virtual reality (VR) playground with a product in collaboration with Meta.
According to leaked images on social media, Xbox is expected to introduce a special version of the Meta Quest 3S virtual reality glasses under the Xbox brand. The device will have a similar setup to the standard Quest 3S with a storage of 128GB, but will come with a wireless Xbox controller, a Meta Quest Elite premium strap, and 3 months of Xbox Game Pass.
Although there has been no official announcement from Xbox or Meta, a blog post from 2024 revealed that these two big guys are collaborating to create a limited edition of Meta Quest, inspired by Xbox.
This shows Xbox is increasingly open to partnering with other manufacturers in terms of hardware, typically the emergence of ROG Xbox Ally.
With this special edition, those who already own the standard Quest 3S may not be targeted, as they can experience Xbox Game Pass on their current glasses. Instead, the product is likely to target new users who are looking to step into the VR world but are familiar with the Xbox ecosystem.
Xbox-branded VR glasses may be sold for $399 and are expected to ship on June 24.
