According to technology site NotebookCheck, the change of color mainly occurs in the aluminum frame and edge clusters around the camera, while the glass surface remains orange. Some experts believe that the anodized layer - the layer that protects the aluminum surface can be defective during the manufacturing process, causing the metal to come into contact with the air and oxidate, gradually changing color over time.
Wccftech newspaper said that the protective coating of some orange iPhone shipments may be uneven, leading to faster oxidation than normal. This phenomenon creates a light pink tone similar to Apple's previous pink yellow color. Android Headlines and CreativeBloq also recorded that users described the initial orange color as clearly fading when the device was frequently exposed to sunlight, sweat on the hands or humid environment.
On forums, some people suspect that this phenomenon only appears in the edge of the camera - where the coating is most likely to peel off or due to environmental light causing color displacement in photos. However, many real images show that the discoloration is quite clear, it is unlikely to be just a light effect.
To date, Apple has not commented or provided any guidance on the issue. Experts say that if this is a coating defect, the phenomenon will only affect certain production lots. Conversely, if the cause comes from oxidation or environmental impact, users may experience a similar situation during long-term use.
