This product was just announced at the Conversations 2026 event held in London on June 3rd local time, marking Meta's new step in making AI an operating assistant for businesses of all sizes.
According to the company, Business Agent is designed as a "digital employee" capable of operating 24/7, helping businesses maintain interaction with customers without significantly expanding the staff.
Meta said that there are currently more than one million businesses using AI assistants on WhatsApp and Messenger. With Business Agent, the company is expanding its coverage globally, while adding more new features to support business operations.
One of the highlights of this tool is its ability to quickly set up in just a few minutes. Businesses can customize AI assistants to communicate in local languages, while adjusting tone and style to suit the brand.
Business Agents can answer questions related to products and services, suggest items from sales lists, schedule appointments, screen potential customers, support order closing and forward conversations to employees when in-depth processing is needed.
Besides WhatsApp and Messenger, Meta also expanded Business Agent to Instagram. This allows businesses to manage all conversations on three popular platforms from a single AI system.
In the early stages, the service will be provided free of charge, before Meta deploys paid registration packages in the coming months.
In addition to customer support functions, Meta also added new search tools on WhatsApp, helping users easily find businesses that are using Business Agents.
Users can also share business contact information with friends or relatives to connect faster.
Meta believes that Business Agent is not only a communication tool but also plays a management support role. The system can provide daily summary reports on customer interactions, detect missed conversations and provide analysis information on customer interest levels.
In the future, Meta plans to expand the platform's capabilities to fields such as market research, product analysis, work schedule management and competitive information tracking.
Along with Business Agent, Meta also introduced Business AI Agent Platform, an infrastructure platform that allows businesses to build, customize and deploy AI agents on a large scale.
This platform supports integration with many popular services such as Shopify, Zendesk and Shopee.
For large businesses, Meta said the platform also provides in-depth management, monitoring and measurement tools to control AI operations, ensure compliance with regulations and maintain human supervision during operation.
