Microsoft and Nvidia accelerate investment, consolidate AI position
Anthropic, a model developer for Claude, has just announced a new $15 billion investment round from Microsoft and Nvidia, raising its valuation to $355 billion, nearly double the $183 billion in September.
This agreement shows that the two technology giants are pushing a circular AI strategy, both as partners and customers, sharing infrastructure, models and computing power.
CEO Satya Nadella affirmed that OpenAI is still an important partner of Microsoft, but the company will expand cooperation with Anthropic so that both can launch products on the market.
Anthropic plans to buy $30 billion in computing capabilities from Microsoft Azure, much of which is powered by Nvidia's AI chips and systems.
On Nvidia's side, CEO Jensen Huang described the deal as a dream and came true when it first cooperated deeply with Anthropic to promote the Claude model line.
Nvidia not only invests capital but also participates in designing and developing the next generations of models.
Anthropic: The opposing team is getting stronger in the AI race
Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI leaders, Anthropic has quickly become a bright face in the field of safe AI and big language models.
The company was supported by Amazon early and developed the Claude line, in which the new version of Claude Sonnet 4.5 stands out with the ability to comply with high instructions and automatically write continuous code up to 30 hours.
The new cash flow from Microsoft and Nvidia comes at the right time when the software giant wants to reduce its dependence on OpenAI, their own partner.
After internal incidents at OpenAI and recent refinancing, Microsoft still holds a 27% stake in the company.
However, Anthropic continues to maintain its alliance with Amazon Web Services, its flagship cloud provider, for 2023-2024.
Microsoft confirmed that Claude models will now also be distributed on Azure, helping to expand the influence of both sides.
Circular investment: A trillion-dollar opportunity and the risk of an AI bubble
The Microsoft - Nvidia - Anthropic deal is considered a typical example of circular AI finance, when company A invests in B, then B uses that money to buy back A's products or services.
This mechanism creates a value circulation, promoting extremely rapid growth in the industry.
With the potential for profits of up to thousands of billions of USD, this model is increasingly being applied by technology giants, despite internal competition.
However, many experts warn that the financial system dependent on companies can create AI bubbles.
A broken chain could have a domino effect on the US and global economies.
However, in the short term, this $15 billion deal shows the unprecedented expansion of the AI industry and the strong shift in multidimensional cooperation between leading technology corporations.
