Facebook is preparing to introduce a new version of the short-form status update feature, similar to Instagram Notes. Users can post short messages to let friends see them when opening a conversation or viewing their profile. This space is designed to quickly share what you are doing, what you want to text, or the reason why you are temporarily unable to respond to messages.
Meta said the feature called Introductions was actually Google's first status update before the app switched to focusing on private messages. With this re-release, the Introduction status is displayed more clearly and easily. Users can tap on their friends' status in the conversation to respond directly.
The Introduction status will automatically disappear after one day. Users have the option to shorten or extend display time and can set a display range that is only for the account or more extensive. The new feature is still basic because it does not support short videos or music sharing like Instagram Notes. WhatsApp said it will consider adding more options if the feature is widely accepted.
The feature has been rolling out to users on mobile devices since this week.
