According to WABetaInfo, this new app of WhatsApp has appeared in the beta version of TestFlight, allowing users to view the volume each conversation occupies in the device's memory.
Specifically, in the chat information section, users will see the "Quality Management" section, displaying details of the capacity of images, videos, documents and files shared in that conversation.
The intuitive display interface in the form of a photo library helps users quickly identify which files occupy the most space.
Previously, users could only manage overall capacity through the: Settings > Archives and Data > Administration of Archives, or view submitted files in each conversation via Means, Links and Documents.
However, these tools do not display the specific size of each file or the total capacity that a conversation uses.
With the new feature, WhatsApp brings a more focused approach, making it easy for users to clean up without having to filter files from dozens of different conversations.
This will be a significant step forward in memory optimization, especially useful for those who regularly send large-volume photos, videos or documents.
Users can proactively delete unnecessary files, or select content to retain without affecting the entire conversation.
When the phone's capacity is almost full, this feature will be a lifebuoy to help free up storage space effectively while still ensuring that important data is kept intact.
WhatsApp has not yet announced the official release date. However, the fact that this feature has appeared in the beta shows that the testing process is entering the final stages, and it is likely that Android and iOS users will experience it in the next few months.
Meta expects this update to not only help optimize the user experience, but also enhance data maintenance capabilities in the context of WhatsApp becoming an increasingly important global communication tool.
