According to Reuters, the lawsuit was filed late on April 9 (local time), demanding that the judge prevent Elon Musk from continuing to commit damaging acts in the future, while affirming that he must bear responsibility for the damage caused.
According to the lawsuit cited by CNN, billionaire Elon Musk took advantage of the X platform with more than 200 million followers to publicly criticize, spread harmful content and pursue legal complaints against OpenAI. OpenAI called it a fake attempt to take control of the company for Mr. Musk's personal purposes.
The lawsuit reflects the escalation of the conflict between Elon Musk and OpenAI, a company he co-founded in 2015 with Sam altman and many other names, before leaving in 2019.
When he left the organization, Elon Musk repeatedly publicly criticized OpenAI for saying that the company had deviated from its original non-profit mission to run for profit.
Earlier this month, Elon Musk asked the court to issue a temporary ban to prevent OpenAI from switching to a for-profit model. However, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers in Oakland County, California, dismissed the request due to lack of evidence.
However, she said she will hold an early trial in the fall to determine if OpenAI violates the law by changing its operating model. She stressed that the incident needed to be handled quickly because "the public interest was under threat".
OpenAI believes Elon Musk's actions are part of a strategy to slow the company's growth and take control of leading artificial intelligence initiatives. In a post on April 10 on social network X, OpenAI wrote: " Elon Musk's relentless actions against us are just an un kind tactic."
Elon Musk's lawyer Marc Toberoff did not comment directly on the lawsuit but recalled the offer to buy OpenAI earlier this year for $97.4 billion. He asserted that the proposal was serious and based on reasonable market valuations, denying the accusation of "interference" in OpenAI's business plans.
The trial of OpenAI's lawsuit will be held next spring, although the specific date has not been determined. Elon Musk has not yet made any official comments about the lawsuit.
