Risks when buying high-end smartphones of unknown origin

NGUYỄN ĐĂNG |

Users in Vietnam noted that some high-end smartphones of unknown origin have limited features, affecting the experience and safety of use.

According to the digital market research company Mri Funnel Growth Lab, the high-end smartphone market in Vietnam is expected to reach 150 million USD by 2028, with a growth rate of 8%/year. In addition to Vertu, the high-end phone market also has many other brands such as Apple, Samsung, Huawei, TAG Heuer...

The Vietnamese phone market is characterized by a high demand for exclusivity, personalized services and high-end design aesthetics. Consumers prioritize brand reputation and technological sophistication, often looking for customized devices that reflect their social status," Mri commented.

With those characteristics, choosing high-end phones with clear and genuine origins is the top priority of this customer group.

Real-world records from Vertu Vietnam show that some users in the business group have encountered problems in the process of using high-end smartphones of unknown origin. Some cases have not been able to access banking applications, some third-party applications, limited Vietnamese language and unable to fully use the company's exclusive service ecosystem due to purchase from unofficial sources.

Accordingly, Vertu's VIP applications and services such as My Vertu, Vertu Life, VDAO cannot be activated or are not fully supported. Some features related to security and Web 3.0 are also limited, making the usage experience not complete compared to expectations on a high-end device.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Cuong - Business Director of Vertu Vietnam said: "We have recorded some cases of customers who used high-end devices from unofficial sources encountering many limitations in the process of use. Common problems such as devices not fully operating features and ecosystems according to the company's standards, leading to disrupted experience during use.

Some customers, after encountering the above problems, have chosen to switch to using genuine products. These devices allow users to fully access the ecosystem, language support, security features as well as after-sales care services, helping a more stable and complete user experience.
