According to the original plan, Samsung was expected to start production in May and was on schedule.
However, because the foldable smartphone market has not yet met sales expectations, Samsung has adjusted to reduce production for the new generation. Accordingly, only 3 million Z Flip 7s and 2 million Z Fold 7s were produced, down 40% compared to last year.
Accessories for both models have also begun to be put into production. A Samsung tri-fold phone is likely to launch later this year, but initial production is limited to 200,000 units, due to high prices and low sales expectations.
In terms of configuration, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will almost certainly use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip - similar to the Galaxy S25 series. Meanwhile, the Z Flip 7 processor is still unlocked. Some test versions using Exynos chips have appeared, but many sources say the Exynos 2,500 is not ready yet, making it likely that the Flip 7 will continue to use Snapdragon chips.
Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 at the Galaxy Unpacked event in early July.
