Samsung has long been collaborating with Google to bring Gemini artificial intelligence to Galaxy phones. However, according to a new report, the Korean technology giant is looking to diversify its AI portfolio, rather than stick to a single partner.
According to a major news agency, Samsung is negotiating with Google's major AI rivals, including OpenAI and Perplexity. Samsung's mobile division president and CEO Choi Won-Joon confirmed: "We are working with many suppliers. As long as those AI assistants are competitive and provide the best user experience, we are willing to cooperate.
This move is seen as similar to Apple's strategy of expanding the ecosystem to not rely on a single technology provider. With the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, Samsung expects to provide users with more AI options.
Since June, there has been information that Samsung is about to sign a deal with Perplexity. Accordingly, Perplexity's technology and services will be pre-implemented on Galaxy devices. Some of Perplexity's search features can also be integrated directly into the Samsung Internet browser and even the Bixby virtual assistant.
Not only that, the two companies are also said to be discussing the development of an AI- embedded operating system and an AI Agents application that allows users to simultaneously use multiple smart assistants, including Perplexity and other platforms.
