This year's program is considered a milestone to summarize 5 years of implementing the National Digital Transformation Program (2020 - 2025) and open a new period of 2026 - 2030.
After 5 years, Vietnam has achieved many outstanding results across five pillars: awareness, institutions, digital government, digital economy and digital society. Currently, 80% of public services have been completely handled in the digital environment; the digital economy accounts for nearly 20% of GDP; and a society with 100 million "digital citizens" is taking shape, where technology and data become growth drivers, improving labor productivity.
Speaking at the opening of the program, Permanent Deputy Minister of Science and Technology (KHCN) Vu Hai Quan emphasized the consistent spirit of this year's theme: "In times of hardship and hardship, the spirit of mutual love and support shines brighter, and that spirit will give us more strength to accelerate the digital transformation process, faster - more effectively - closer to the people".
He said that after the launching and creating phase, Vietnam's digital transformation has gone into depth, with telecommunications infrastructure covering 99.3% of villages and hamlets; full-process online public services reaching nearly 40%, 9 times higher than in 2019; digital economy accounting for about 14-15% of GDP, aiming for the target of 20% by 2025.

According to Deputy Minister Vu Hai Quan, the 2026-2030 period will be an important turning point, towards "transforming digitalization results into economic growth, improving productivity and national competitiveness".
Digital transformation needs to be faster - faster in building and perfecting institutions, in implementing strategies, projects and in adapting to new technologies. At the same time, it must be more effective, measured by the actual impact on productivity, costs and the satisfaction of people and businesses" - Mr. Quan commented.
The Deputy Minister also emphasized that the effectiveness of digital transformation must be measured by people's trust and satisfaction, through the creation of a healthy and civilized cyberspace. Because only when digital transformation is associated with life, solving people's problems and bringing happiness to people, will digital transformation truly enter people's hearts.
Also within the framework of the event, the Ministry of Science and Technology announced the 2024 digital transformation (DTI) ranking of provinces and centrally run cities - considered an important basis reflecting the readiness and effectiveness of digital transformation nationwide.
With the spirit of "Digital transformation: Faster - more effective - closer to the people", the program is not only an opportunity to summarize and honor but also a call to action for each agency, business and people to join hands to make digital technology an essential part of life, contributing to building a strong Vietnam in the digital era.
