Rumors about Apple's first folding screen iPhone (iPhone Fold) are becoming denser, suggesting that the company may have gotten closer to launching this product after many years of research.
According to leaked sources, the device may appear earliest at the end of this year, although some other reports suggest that users may have to wait until 2027.
Although the timing is not clear, iPhone Fold is still expected to open a new high-end segment in the iPhone ecosystem.
Book-folding design, inspired by iPad mini
Unlike previous rumors about the folding cap form, iPhone Fold is likely to have a book-shaped horizontal folding design, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold line.
When opened, the inner screen can reach about 7.8 inches, close to the size of the iPad mini, while the outer screen is about 5.5 inches.
Some sources say that the device may look like two iPhones combined, or be more square in proportion than a regular phone.
When folded, users can still use the external screen and camera, and when opened, there will be a larger display space for work and entertainment.
Apple is also said to be aiming for a super-thin design, with the goal of only half the thickness of the current iPhone. The material may be a combination of titanium, aluminum and tempered glass to ensure durability.
Ambition to eliminate screen folds
One of the biggest challenges of folding phones is the fold on the screen. Apple is said to be making efforts to address this weakness, which is a factor directly affecting user experience.
In the context that companies like Samsung or Oppo have made significant progress, observers expect Apple to cooperate with screen partners to create an almost "unfoldable" experience.
Powerful configuration, price may be the highest in iPhone history
iPhone Fold is predicted to use a new generation chip, possibly a variant of the high-end A-series, along with powerful configuration for multitasking on a large screen.
Some information suggests that the device may only be equipped with two rear cameras instead of three like the Pro line.
Regarding the selling price, many estimates suggest that iPhone Fold will range from 1,800 to 2,000 USD, even higher than current iPhone models and directly compete with high-end folding flagships on the market.
Launch date remains an unknown
Some sources from the supply chain said that the device has entered the testing production phase at Foxconn, raising the possibility of early launch.
However, other reports show that Apple is still facing difficulties in the technical completion process, which may cause the schedule to be delayed.
Whether launched at the end of this year or later, iPhone Fold is still considered Apple's strategic step in the foldable device race, where design, durability and experience will determine success.
