After many years of just rumors, Apple's first foldable screen iPhone is said to be very close to its launch date. Notably, this product can solve one of the biggest limitations of foldable phones today: clear folds on the screen.
According to recent leaked sources, Apple is considering cooperating with Samsung to develop pleated screen technology for iPhone Fold.
At CES 2026, Samsung introduced a new folding panel that almost does not reveal folds, and integrated a camera under the screen, attracting great attention from the technology world.
Expert in leaking famous technology information on social network X - IceUniverse, said that Samsung may apply this technology to the Galaxy Wide Fold model in the future. However, many signs show that Apple is also closely following and may use a similar solution for iPhone Fold, a product expected to open up a completely new segment for "Apple".
Although Apple has not confirmed any information, rumors say that the iPhone Fold will have an external screen of about 5.5 inches and an indoor screen of up to 7.8 inches when fully opened.
Samsung is said to be providing the main screen panel, while Apple self-designs hinges, protective coating and overall structure to ensure durability and user experience according to its own standards.
Notably, Apple can use liquid metal for hinges, a material that the company has researched for many years to increase solidity and reduce wear after a long period of folding and opening.
Regarding the camera, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman predicts that iPhone Fold may be equipped with four cameras, including two 48MP rear cameras and a selfie camera on both the inside and outside screens. Instead of Face ID, Apple is likely to choose Touch ID integrated into the power button, similar to how many phone manufacturers are applying.
The price is also a factor that attracts attention. According to Gurman, iPhone Fold can be sold for about 2,400 USD, significantly higher than Samsung, Oppo, vivo or Motorola folding phone models. This shows that Apple can position the product in the super high-end segment, aiming for users who are willing to pay for new technology and a different experience.
If the above information becomes true, iPhone Fold will not only be a strategic step for Apple in the foldable phone market, but can also set new standards for foldless screens in the future.
