The Locket Photo Sharing App, allows users to send photos to friends and display them directly on the home screen as widgets.
Launched in 2022, Locket quickly brings a more real connection method. The application places a widget on the iPhone home screen, automatically updating when friends post a new photo. Each person can choose up to 20 close friends, creating a private space to share selfies and unedited everyday moments.
Locket said it has reached more than 80 million downloads and 9 million active daily users, with more than 10 billion photos shared.
To boost growth, Locket has been quietly testing the Celebrity lockets feature for the past 6 months, and officially announced it recently. This feature focuses on music artists, allowing them to share information about tours, new albums and other news.
Artists can post links on social media or let fans search in the app. After connecting, they can send photos directly to the fan's home screen. With the post appearing right on the fans home screen, Locket creates the instantaneveness and closeness that other platforms are unlikely to bring, turning passive followers into proactive participants, said founder Matt Moss.
Thanks to its minimalist and approach, Locket attracts millions of young people to seek a less "noisy" form of connection than traditional social networks.
The addition of the Celebrity lockets feature shows that the app is looking to expand the experience while still maintaining its own identity: prioritizing closeness, personalization and a special feeling for each user. The question is whether Locket can maintain this balance when entering the playground of popular entertainment platforms.
