Xiaomi is preparing to launch its most advanced smartphone - Xiaomi 16 Pro Max - with a battery of up to 7,290 mAh, surpassing both the Ultra version and many Android competitors in the same segment.
Equipping this large battery is Xiaomi's strategy to compensate for the Pro Max version not having a "monster" camera system like the Ultra, thereby giving way to a larger battery. Meanwhile, the Ultra version has to divide space into huge camera clusters and other special components.
The device is expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip (commercial name: Snapdragon 8 Elite 2) - Qualcomm's most advanced processor line to date.
Xiaomi 16 Pro Max will likely have a rear secondary screen - a feature that once appeared on the Mi 11 Ultra, allowing for notification display or making a Self-catching frame with the main camera.
Compared to other products on the market such as Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra (expected to use a ~5,500 mAh battery) or Vivo X200 Pro (~6,000 mAh), Xiaomi 16 Pro Max will lead in battery capacity, which promises to bring outstanding service life, especially suitable for users who need performance and a battery that lasts all day.
Xiaomi 16 Pro Max may be officially launched in September or October 2025, after the standard version and Pro version are announced in the third quarter.
The official price has not been disclosed, but if Xiaomi maintains its more accessible pricing tradition compared to its Korean and Chinese competitors, the 16 Pro Max could well become a formidable competitor in the market in the second half of 2025.
