Filtered water or coconut water
First of all, filtered water is the most effective drink to help the kidneys filter and remove uric acid through urine.
Kidneys are responsible for filtering about 70% of uric acid in the body every day; so drinking enough water helps maintain blood flow and increase uric acid excretion through the kidneys.
Similarly, fresh coconut water is also considered an effective hydrating drink thanks to being rich in electrolytes and water, supporting kidney function effectively without sugar - which is especially important after Tet days eating too much salty food and alcohol.
Cherry juice or blueberry juice
In recent studies, cherry juice has been mentioned a lot because it contains anthocyanins - a group of powerful antioxidants, which can promote reducing uric acid in the blood and support reducing inflammation associated with gout.
Similarly, unsweetened blueberry juice is also rich in polyphenols and natural vitamin C, which help improve oxidative reactions and support kidney excretion - although the effect is usually lighter than cherry juice, it is still a good choice to add to the post-Tet diet.
Ginger tea
Ginger tea is one of the drinks mentioned in many nutritional literatures because of the anti-inflammatory and natural antioxidant properties of ginger.
Ginger is also considered a safe and easy-to-make drink: you just need to steep a few slices of fresh ginger in hot water for 5-10 minutes, drink 1-2 cups per day to help reduce inflammation and promote uric acid excretion.
Cucumber juice
Cucumbers have a very high water content and contain flavonoids - substances that can help mild diuretics. According to some natural food studies, flavonoids in cucumbers can inhibit the enzyme xanthine oxidase - an enzyme that produces uric acid in a gentle way, and fresh cucumber juice helps the kidneys filter uric acid more effectively when hydration is optimized.
The special thing is that cucumbers have a low purine index, which is very suitable for use after purine-heavy Tet meals while still supporting excretion.
Green tea
Many nutrition studies assess that green tea contains polyphenols and flavonoids that have the effect of enhancing oxidation - reduction function and are recorded to be related to reducing uric acid production in the body.
Research shows that regular consumption of green tea (about 2-3 cups/day, sugar-free) can increase the effectiveness of uric acid excretion and reduce systemic inflammatory reactions.
