Ready to welcome big ships
Chu Lai International Port is a type 1 seaport (national port, regional unit) according to the Master Plan for the development of Vietnam's seaport system for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister. With an area of 140 hectares, the port has 2 specialized wharf areas, including wharf No. 2 ( wharf of 50,000 tons) serving container ships with a load capacity of 50,000 DWT, wharf No. 1 focusing on exploiting general cargo for ships with a load capacity of 30,000 DWT. The two wharves can receive 04 large ships at the same time, helping to reduce the waiting time of ships and improve the performance of the port.
All wharf areas are equipped with specialized and modern cranes with a unloading capacity of more than 100 containers/hour. In addition, the warehouse and yard system is also built according to international standards with more than 300,000 m2, with a capacity of 500,000 tons, fully meeting the standards of warehousing, storage, storage and control of goods information.
Mr. Phan Van Ky - Director of Chu Lai International Port said: "We focus on synchronous investment in infrastructure, focusing on improving service quality, increasing unloading productivity, shortening handling time, and providing optimal transportation solutions for customers".

To ensure maritime safety for large ships entering and leaving the port, THILOGI speeds up the dredging progress of the Ky Ha channel to a depth of - 9.3m, the project will be completed and put into operation from June 2025. In particular, the Prime Minister has also directed relevant ministries and branches to immediately resolve procedures related to investing in the Cua Lo new canal project so that Chu Lai International Port can receive ships over 50,000 DWT in 2028, thereby reducing logistics costs, equivalent to the two regions of the South and the North.
Promoting regional tradeQuang Nam province identifies the marine economy as the focus of development, aiming to become one of the marine economic centers of Vietnam. Routes 14D and 14B are being upgraded to complete the transport infrastructure system of the East-West Economic Corridor 2 (expected in 2026), in order to facilitate the exploitation of goods from Northern Cambodia, Southern Laos and Northeast Thailand for export through Chu Lai International Port, especially containers.
According to the plan, Chu Lai International Port aims to become a multi-purpose, container-specialized international logistics center by 2027; at the same time, complete port infrastructure, invest in equipment to improve ship receiving capacity; organize the operation of domestic and international shipping routes to and from Chu Lai, providing many optimal service options for businesses.

At the end of 2025, THILOGI will put into operation 2 container ships with a total capacity of 3,600 TEUs to exploit international shipping routes from Chu Lai to Xiamen and Shanghai ports (China); at the same time, expand cooperation with major shipping lines operating shipping routes directly to Korea, Japan, Taiwan (China), India, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia... and connect goods to the US, Canada, Europe, Australia through international transit ports such as Shanghai, Busan, Kaohsiung.
In order to expand its scale in Laos, Cambodia, and the Central Highlands, THILOGI has established Dong Duong Transport Joint Stock Company to develop road transport services, connecting goods to Chu Lai International Port.
Mr. Hoang Chau Son - Deputy Head of the Management Board of Economic Zones and Industrial Parks of Quang Nam province said: "The development of the port has contributed to optimizing the efficiency of logistics activities, expanding the "door" to attract investment in industrial parks and industrial clusters in Quang Nam in particular and the Central region in general".
With its strategic location and synchronous investment in infrastructure, equipment, combined with multi-modal transportation, Chu Lai International Port is expected to become a major logistics center in the Central - Central Highlands, contributing to promoting trade and developing the regional economy.
