Quang Ngai will create maximum conditions for building social housing
On March 14, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province worked with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on investing in the construction of a trade union social housing project in Quang Ngai province. Attending the meeting was Mr. Le Van Nghia - Member of the Presidium, Head of the Trade Union Institution Project Management Board (Vietnam General Confederation of Labor).
At the meeting, Mr. Tran Phuoc Hien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province emphasized that the construction of social housing in Quang Ngai is very necessary because the demand is very high. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assigned the target to Quang Ngai province to attract and build 6,300 social housing units by 2030. Of which, 1,500 houses are for the 2022-2025 period and 4,800 houses are for the 2026-2030 period. However, the province still does not have social housing for low-income people.

The People's Committee of Quang Ngai province agreed to introduce a location to expand the planned investment area of the trade union institution project in Tinh Phong commune, Son Tinh district, Quang Ngai province with a scale of about 4.05 hectares (including the previously agreed land area of about 2.049 hectares). The Management Board of Dung Quat Economic Zone and Industrial Parks of Quang Ngai province is responsible for providing full information about the architectural planning at the location of the land for the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to survey, study and design the project in accordance with the planning.
Mr. Tran Phuoc Hien expressed his joy when the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor paid attention to the issue of social housing for low-income people in Quang Ngai. Quang Ngai province will create maximum conditions for the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to implement the construction of social housing in Quang Ngai. The province will focus on solving problems related to compensation and site clearance. Before June 30, 2025, to hand over clean land to investors.
"The planned location for social housing construction is very favorable for workers and laborers because it is near VSIP Industrial Park and Tinh Phong Industrial Park. Regarding the routes connecting to social housing areas, the province will invest synchronously 6 months before the project comes into operation" - Mr. Tran Phuoc Hien shared.
Mr. Tran Phuoc Hien also informed that regarding appraisal procedures... under the province's authority such as fire prevention and fighting, environmental impact assessment... the province committed to doing it 1/3 of the time before the regulations. The province will specifically report to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, then have an official document sent to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor before March 25, 2025.
Quang Ngai wants to invest in more social housing
At the meeting, Mr. Le Van Nghia emphasized that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor proposed that the Provincial People's Committee allocate a part of the land belonging to the approved project to invest in the construction of social housing, serving the rental needs of workers and laborers. The total land area is expected to be about 2 hectares to build 750 apartments, garages and a system of flower gardens, technical infrastructure works... The number of residents is about 2,500 people. The total estimated investment is 640 billion VND.

To synchronously connect with the investment project to build a social housing area, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor proposed that the Provincial People's Committee invest in the infrastructure around the land: Traffic system, electricity system, water, wastewater drainage...
At the same time, promptly organize the selection of investors to build houses on the remaining land to synchronize items according to the approved 1/500 detailed plan.
"If Quang Ngai province creates all favorable conditions, it is expected that the trade union social housing project in Tinh Phong commune will start construction in October 2025. In the immediate future, it will be about 2 hectares, the completion time will be about 6-9 months" - Mr. Le Van Nghia said.
At the end of the working session, Mr. Tran Phuoc Hien hoped that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor would continue to pay attention and build the remaining 2 hectares that have been planned to build social housing. The province is committed to creating all favorable conditions for investors to implement the construction of social housing.
Quang Ngai currently has over 115,000 workers, civil servants, and laborers working in agencies, units, and enterprises with grassroots unions under the management of the Provincial Labor Federation. However, the province still does not have social housing for low-income people.
