5 foods that help treat diarrhea effectively at home

Diarrhea is a bowel condition that can be caused by bacteria, viruses, foods, or digestive problems.

When you have diarrhea, your bowel movements or stools become loose or watery, often accompanied by a frequent and urgent need to go to the bathroom. You may also experience other symptoms such as bloating, fever, dehydration, and abdominal cramps.

The following foods can help you reduce the above condition:

1. Whey and buttermilk

Whey and buttermilk are considered effective remedies for diarrhea. Due to the presence of beneficial bacteria, they help to stabilize the digestive system and soothe discomfort. Whey is the liquid part of curdled milk, and buttermilk is made by churning curd after the fat has been removed. Experts recommend that you consume whey or buttermilk in moderate doses at regular intervals.

2. Green banana

Green bananas have excellent astringent properties and are often recommended as part of a diarrhea diet. Divide the bananas into three parts and soften them in a pressure cooker with enough water. Pour off the excess water. Peel them, then mash them thoroughly. Add a pinch of salt to the banana mixture. The astringent properties of this recipe will help prevent diarrhea.

3. Pomegranate

Dried pomegranate peel is an effective treatment for diarrhea. Grind the peel into a fine powder and eat 1 gram twice a day. You can also take it with buttermilk to reduce the frequency of diarrhea.

4. Ginger and honey

Try eating a little honey with some grated ginger. Then wait 10 minutes and drink the water. Ginger can help with diarrhea and other symptoms like vomiting and stomach cramps.

5. Dill water

Dry or sun-dry the fennel plant, and when it is dry, grind it. Then, take the powder and mix it with a spoon of sugar in a cup of water. Drinking this water can also help treat diarrhea.

Diarrhea usually clears up on its own after two to three days, but if it persists for longer than that it can lead to severe dehydration and you need immediate medical attention. So if your condition does not improve, consult your doctor in addition to using these remedies.
